Tagged- Embarrasing Moments Game

Hey Everyone!  So I was tagged in the Embarrassing Moments game by Bryant so here.we.go!

I can go in many directions with this one.  Maybe I can talk about that abysmal attempt at karaoke that I decided to do.  Perhaps I could tell everyone the story on how my face ended up in the.... nevermind!  Maybe I can tell everyone about how I nearly broke my nose in middle school after a football slipped right through my hands during P.E!

My embarrassing moment happened on my first day of college classes in 2004.  I'm a freshman and super nervous.  My lab was supposed to meet in that room but labs didn't start for another week(which I didn't know at the time)!  Long story short, I went into the wrong class.  I tried to leave - got called out by the professor (even though I'm not supposed to be in the class anyway).  I tripped over a backpack on my way out while trying to get to the door.  I nearly knock myself out after hitting my head on the wall while trying to leave!  I get stared down as I'm trying to leave!  Typical Jarvis!

Disney Park Challenge: Day 4, 5, 6

Please forgive me, but I've been extremely lazy when it comes to updating this.  I'm gonna do 3 days to make up for the days that I chose to procrastinate!

Day 4: Favorite attraction in Fantasyland?

Even those most may not be able to stand this, I love It's A Small World!  It's usually good for one or two rides a trip... especially if it is hot outside.  My best hint is to tune the sound out and just watch those creepy dolls.  If you don't tune them out, be prepared to sing that song in your head ALL DAY LONG.  Who would know better than me!  This ride is also good for a quick power nap!

Day 5: Favorite attraction in Liberty Square?

This may be the only attraction that I like in liberty square - THE HAUNTED MANSION!  I'll admit it, but I get a little bit creeped out when I ride it by myself at night but still...!  I will ride this attraction SEVERAL times a trip!  It also has the best introduction/theming at Disney World so that helps a bit!  The queue line is entertaining unless the line is backed up to the main entrance but luckily, the line usually moves pretty fast!  This is uually one of the first rides that I'll go on upon entering the Magic Kingdom!

Day 6: Favorite attraction in Frontierland?

This question was a toughie for me!  I love both Big Thunder Mountain AND Splash Mountain so it becomes extremely difficult to choose.  I'll just say that I love SPLASH better when it's hot and enjoy Big Thunder more at night (as I usually enjoy coasters better after dark)!  The music on Splash is infinity catchy though!  I definitely missed being able to ride on Splash during my previous trip in January, as it was down for its usual refurb!  I can't wait to ride it ONCE/IF we make it down to Florida for our Fall 2011 College Program!

Disney Park 30 Day Challenge - Day 2 and 3

Since I didn't do a day on yesterday, I figured that I'd entertain ya'll with *2* days today!  Besides, these are simple, to the point questions so this wont be long!

Day 2:  Favorite Land in the Magic Kingdom
I'd have to say Frontierland because of Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain: 2 must do's for any Disney trip!

Day 3:  Favorite Attraction in Tomorrowland
Ummm... It often depends on my mood!  When my motion sickness isn't acting dumb, I definitely prefer Space Mountain.  When I'm feeling lazy, I prefer TTA/People mover.  When I'm feeling uber competitive only to be defeated in score by a small child, I'd choose Buzz Lightyear!  Yeah, this last point happens EVERY SINGLE RIDE THROUGH.  I got beat by a frickin 6 YEAR OLD!  OH EMM GEE SCRATCHING MY FRICKIN HEAD!.  Tie me to the Tree of Woe and hit me over the head with Zurg's helmet!

Tag! You're It

Tag! You're it!

So I was tagged by Emily to do the tag game.
10 facts about me that you probably didn't know...and then I will tag 2 people :)

1.  I drive a 2002 Mercedes Benz which I have affectionately named, THE BLACK RIDER!  Yay for Lord of the Rings/Nazgul references!  Mileage is still low, especially considering how old it is!
2.  I was a MASSIVE Universal Studios fan before I converted over to being a Disney World Fan when I was around 14/15 years old! Blasphemy!  I know
3.  I am eerily addicted to candy.  I have a small bag just about every morning (usually gummy bears).  This started around my senior year of high school and has been going on/off ever since!
4.  Pizza and Tacos rock my world!
5.  I want to get 3 tattoos before I turn 26 (in another year and a half).  1 on each arm and maybe 1 on my back
6.  Secretly, I always wished that I was a power ranger! I would totally kick butt as the original green ranger!
7.  I'm deathly afraid of snakes... even small ones!
8.  I'm not too fond of uncaged birds either.  Especially seagulls!
9.  I'm really shy... even if I act like a studio gangsta' on the boards, sometime!  I'm super quiet in person unless I'm REALLY comfortable with you!
10. I went on my first ever SOLO trip to Disney World in January!

So I'm tagging Catherine and Rylan. Not sure how to directly link to y'alls page but here is the URL.  I hope that I didn't bore y'all too much!

Disney Park - 30 Day Challenge : Day 1

Thanks to Catherine from the FB group!    Also, I added a FORMSPRING to the right edge of my screen.  Feel free to ask me any CLEAN questions and I'll be more than happy to answer them for you!
Day 1: Favorite Walt Disney World park?
My computer is too slow to do a picture heavy post so text will do for now!

So what is my favorite Disney park.  I personally feel that each park offers something unique that causes me to continue to visit that particular park.  Each park has its own strengths.  Here is my list from least to favorite!

4.  Animal KingdomDINOSAUR!!!!  Enough Said.  I like the natural feel of Animal Kingdom.  The safari is another amazing experience! The walkways can be a bit too congested for my taste so this is my least favorite of the 4 (that's not a bad thing though).  It ALWAYS feels so packed!

3.  Hollywood Studios/MGM for those old school peeps - This park has the best Thrill Rides out of all the Disney parks.  I find myself coming back here quite a bit.  I do not do the shows very much... usually once every couple of trips (or unless I'm bored).  This is the only park, other than Animal Kingdom, that I still need a map to navigate around!

2.  EPCOT - One of my new favorites as a park.  I did not appreciate this one at all until I got a little bit older.  I love people watching here.  The park is so big and relaxing!  Just stay away from the psycho seagulls from hell.  They'll steal your popcorn and anything else you're eating.  I'll go to EPCOT whenever I feel like just taking a leisurely, directionless stroll around the world.

1.  This is my favorite park.  This is the one park that I would go to if I only had 1 day in Disney and I did not have park hoppers.  In my opinion, this park represents what Disney was supposed to be. Some of the rides are cheesy but I guess that it is a part of the charm of the Magic Kingdom

Hopefully I'll remember to do this daily!  Oh and APPS WILL BE OUT SOOOOOOOON!!

Introduction - Who Am I and Why am I here?

Hey there everyone!  My  name is JARVIS BURNETTE and I'm a hopeful for the Fall ADVANTAGE College Program 2011!

Age:          (24)  I Will be 25 by the time the program starts.  Yay for us AARP College Program hopefuls!

Height:      5'6 - I know this is absolutely useless, but still!

Location:   South Mississippi, although I'm hoping to make Florida my new home... at least for a few years following the program

School:
University of Southern Mississippi (2004-2009, Bachelor of Science, Psychology)
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College ( 2011 - part time ) Undecided
I may get my teaching certification in psychology or study biology like I originally wanted.  I don't know yet!

So a little bit more about me!

*I did the College Program once before (Spring 2007).  I worked in the Magic Kingdom/ Tomorrowland/ Cosmic Rays / QSFB.  My primary duties were as a busser.  Cosmic Rays is super busy so good luck if you get that!
*I lived in Vista Way in 2007.  I enjoyed it.  I lived with 5 other guys which isn't as bad as it sounds.  We all, for the most part, got along with each other and respected others stuff!  We didn't hang out too much after the first month but that was cool!  I had some great coworkers to hang out with.  This time, I'm hoping for either Vista Way or Chatham.  Patterson may be a bit too quiet and new for me! My preference changes from day to day so I probably wont have a decision until march (If I get accepted!).  My student loans are also in repayment so cheap(er) rent plays a HUGE factor in my decision.  Sorry Patterson!  Even 10 dollars a week saved in rent will go a LONG way in helping me out!

*I am REALLY nervous about applying this time. To be honest, I'm quite terrified!  On my first program, I had actually forgotten that I applied for the program!  Lo and Behold the shock when I received my purple folder.  This time, I've invested a lot more of my heart into this so it is a bit more nerve wracking  I've met quite a few really good, genuine people and I will be really sad unless ALL of us get in.  BIG shout out to my tokbox/skype chat D-Fam!  Sorry my computer is a huge turd and for making y'all wait over an hour for everything to boot up   :-)

*If I get in, I would want Fall Advantage.  No questions asked!  The sooner, the better for me!
*I've been in the "real world" for the past 19 months since graduation.  I've been at my full time job ever since graduation.  Starting in January, I'll be going to class part time as well as working full time.

Why did I decided to go back to school when I already had my degree?  It's quite simple!  I'm bored!  I have too great a desire to continue learning something and I feel that I have tons of things to prove to myself as an individual and to others as well!  I feel that I'm destined for greater things and would not be able to do so where I currently stand!  Sitting down and feeling sorry for myself got me nowhere!

Why am I applying for the program again?  I felt that I was too young to go down there when I did.  I was 20 but was probably 18 at heart.  I always used to make a joke; to find my "TRUE AGE" you had to subtract 2 from my birth age!  I was NOWHERE NEAR mature enough to handle the responsibility despite working since I was 16.  It was the eye opener that I desperately needed in my life. I felt that I had to do it then because I would not get an opportunity otherwise.  If I waited any longer, I would have been too close to graduation to take a semester off.  Graduation was always a top priority of mine!  After graduation, I knew that I would need a full time job so I can start paying off these horrible student loans of mine.  A fortunate twist of fate allowed me the opportunity to apply for this again and I'm taking it!  This time I'm ready for it!  I've definitely grown up a lot since 2007!

Roles that I am Interested in
Attractions, Merchandise, Concierge, Bell Services, maybe Main Entrance Operations, Custodial, and transportation.  If I start to feel desperate, I'll do QSFB again (although the pay premium is nice!)  More less, just about everything except housekeeping (because my knees and back wont let me-) and recreation (because I can't swim).  Pleeeaassseeee accept me, Disney  LOL   :-)

I guess this is it for a first post/introduction!  Sorry for the long winded rant - that happens when I write sometimes!

Feel free to add me on here/facebook/youtube.  I believe the search term for all is jrb0509.  I think I'll be writing in this quite a bit!
